Hawker Siddeley Nimrod. The Hawker Siddeley Nimrod entered service with Royal Air Force in 1969 and was retired in 2011. This maritime patrol aircraft was a development of the de Havilland Comet. It replaced the Avro Shackleton in the anti-submarine role and anti-surface warfare. Later in its service life it took on the Airborne Early Warning role, eventually replaced by the Sentry.
